Dwarven Ancestry Feats: Dwarven Weapon Familiarity

Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my guide and thank you so much for checking out another episode of our ancestry feats for the dwarves we have a very very exciting feat in store for us today. We’re talking about dwarven weapon familiarity now it’s really cool about this feat in particular is it’s the only feat the dwarves have access to in the core rulebook that actually scales all the way through their leveling advancement.

That being said, however i don’t really like that because i feel like the other feats should as well. That being said, i can only pray that paizo adds new feats and it definitely feels like they’re going to sometime in the near ish future here. But that being said, let’s dive into this one. So the dwarven weapon familiarity reads as followed.

Table of Contents

Your kin have instilled in you an affinity for hard-hitting weapons, and you prefer these to more elegant arms. You are trained with the battle axe, pick, and warhammer. You also gain access to all uncommon dwarf weapons. For the purpose of determining your proficiency, martial dwarf weapons are simple weapons and advanced dwarf weapons are martial weapons.

Very cool stuff! Now i love it, i think it’s cool. I think adding training to weapons is awesome. I think these weapons fit very well thematically with the dwarf, whether or not the most they’re the most Min, Maxed. You know i’ll leave it up to you, all the weapons in parhfinder 2e are actually super-unique from each other and i do love that, i can only hope that they’re gonna add more dwarven weapons and later additions but for the meantime let’s check out the breakdown and go over what we got.

So the first one is the battle axe deals 1d8 damage and there’s a pretty good, pick 1d6, warhammer 1d8, clan dagger which is one of the dwarven weapons is 1d4 and then the dwarven war axe which is the other one is 1d8. Pretty cool stuff, they all have their own seperate traits attached to them and we’re gonna be talking about these later on, so i’m not really gonna go over them in this article.

What you do need to know though is fill out the weapon on your character sheet, put it all the info check off that “T” box for being trained and that gets you an extra two plus your level which is sweet. Now once again that will increase as you keep picking the dwarven familiarity at higher levels so just do bear that in mind.

That being said, let me know what you think of it. Are you gonna pick it? In my opinion this is really only something you want to pick if you’re gonna be a weapon based fighter which i mean there’s a couple classes that meet that requirement and this is kind of a given option. It’s why i’m not a huge fan of it and it’s also why i’m looking forward to more being added.

I could make the argument that the biggest strong suit of 2E is the fact that it’s supposed to be super customizable and it really is but putting things like this in there paizo it kind of lends to one particular play style. At least that’s my opinion. Let me know what you guys think down beneath in the comment section, i’m really curious what you can come up with. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy adventuring.
